I’ve been programming since 1983, and I’m still going strong.  My history includes BASIC, C, assembler, Pascal and Java but now I work mostly in PHP and JavaScript plus a significant amount of C# & .net.  I founded the GTA PHP Meetup Group, and frequently give presentations there.  I’ve also been an instructor for TUG Night School for the last couple of years.

I’ve been growing my own PHP CMS / Framework since the days of PHP 3, but recently decided to retire it since much of the code base is old and embarrassing, and I’d prefer to spend my time working on code that has more contributors and users.  I’ve tried to be open minded about Drupal, but I don’t think I can stomach it.  I’m doing projects with Zend Framework now, and looking forward to playing with Symfony.

In JavaScript land I’m loving knockout.js, and working towards releasing a plugin I’ve written for it which makes working with REST services much easier.  I’ve also been playing with node.js and love being able to just keep my brain in JavaScript mode regardless of whether I’m working on the client or the server.  I’m very much looking forward to doing a real node.js project.
